14th Circuit Drug Court to conduct trauma training for law officers

June 9, 2017

The Fourteenth Circuit Drug Court will conduct trauma training for area law enforcement officers June 13 and 14 at the Drug Court office at 3162 Old Industrial Road in McComb.

About 30 officers have signed up for the four-hour training, said Drug Court Coordinator John Douglas. Three sessions will be provided: June 13 from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. and June 14 from 8 a.m. to noon.

The training is free to law officers in Lincoln, Pike and Walthall counties.

Planning for the program has been underway for about three years, Douglas said. “We were looking for the equipment to be able to provide immediate lifesaving assistance, and the training to know how to use it,” he said. Planners learned that the local trauma district will provide free trauma kits to officers.

Drug Court staff members Jess Greer and Pam Weber will conduct the training. Greer, who works under contract with the Drug Court, is an officer with the Tylertown Police Department and is Simulation Laboratory Coordinator at Southwest Mississippi Community College. Weber is a Mississippi Department of Corrections probation officer assigned to the Drug Court.
